St. James Church is located in Mount Pleasant, NC and was originally established as an Evangelical and Reformed Congregation in 1894. The present sanctuary was built in 1923. In 1954 the E&R Churches merged with the Congregational Christian Churches and formed the United Church of Christ. In 2005 St. James disaffiliated with the UCC and became an independent congregation. In 2023 St. James Church petitioned the ADOC for affiliation consideration with the ACNA. In October of 2023 the ADOC Standing Committee granted St. James missional status as a congregation in the ACNA.
